NAPLAN tests teaching ideas

Students need to develop a range of important skills and strategies before sitting the tests. These include being able to work individually for set periods of time, knowing how to locate information in a text, reading and interpreting questions, and writing on demand. The page provides ideas to help foster these skills.

Where possible, teachers should make test preparation part of regular practice, and include sessions where students work individually for set periods of time, reading and interpreting questions.

Resources for developing test skills and strategies

The NAPLAN test preparation section contains samples and advice for each strand of the tests.
