SAS
This study area specification (SAS) has been designed to meet the needs of a broad range of students. It provides an introduction to a broad understanding of tourism, and develops the personal and interpersonal skills that underpin employment in the tourism industry. This SAS examines the dynamic nature of global tourism and the broader social, cultural, ecological and economic implications of sustainable tourism.
This SAS offers 2 approaches:
- Approach A — VET certificates SIT20107 Certificate II in Tourism
- Approach B — School-devised course of study over 4 semesters

Study plans
Study plans and AQTF registration
Approach A. Before offering the VET certificates listed in this approach, schools must ensure the courses or qualifications fall within their AQTF scope of registration.
Approach B. Schools must submit a study plan by the end of Term 1 in the first year of teaching the course.
