This study area specification (SAS) includes a range of practical topics and VET qualifications to provide students with an understanding of the role of the hospitality industry as well as the structure, scope and operation of related activities. Students learn to understand the industry's workplace culture and practices, and develop the skills, processes and attitudes crucial for making valid decisions about future career paths. The specification also enables students to investigate hospitality as a source of leisure activities, life skills, or as an avenue for further study.
This SAS offers 3 approaches:
Approach A — VET certificates SIT10207 Certificate I in Hospitality and/or SIT20207 Certificate II in Hospitality
Approach B — School-devised course of study over 4 semesters
Approach C — VET certificate SIT10207 Certificate I in Hospitality over 2 semesters and 2 semesters of units from the school-devised course of study
