Essential Learnings by key learning area
Essential Learnings identify what should be taught and what is important for students to have opportunities to know, understand and be able to do. They are the part of the curriculum that is common across all schools, and are specified for each of the key learning areas, at four different year-level junctures (end of Years 3, 5, 7 and 9).
The Essential Learnings and associated resources have been organised to facilitate the diverse planning needs of schools and teachers. They can be accessed either by key learning area or by year juncture.
In 2012, Queensland schools will implement the Australian Curriculum in English, Mathematics and Science. See the Australian Curriculum section for information and resources to support Queensland schools with implementation.
