NAPLAN test reporting and analysis

Individual, class and school reports

Schools receive a printed report for each student. This report is to be given to parents and/or carers as soon as possible after it has been received and checked by the school.

Once all data have been finalised, class and school reports will be made available to schools in electronic formats on the secure section of the QSA website.

Class and school reports are available to schools in electronic formats on the secure section of the QSA website.

Queries and anomalies

Schools will be advised of the process to query perceived errors on the 2012 student reports.

Data requests

2012 NAPLAN data can be accessed on the secure section of the QSA website until mid-March 2013.

Where a school requires 2008-2011 NAPLAN data, the Data request form must be completed and forwarded to the QSA by fax or post.

Test Reporting Handbook

A 2012 Test Reporting Handbook has been sent to schools with the report package. This handbook provides information to teachers and principals to help them understand, interpret and use student performance information contained in the test reports on the tests. It also contains marking grids and item descriptors for each of the tests and commentary on the performance of Queensland students.

2012 NAPLAN test item analysis

A BIC (Brief identification code) and password are needed to access the collected NAPLAN 2012 item analysis from the secure section of the QSA website. Individual item analyses may be accessed through the SunLANDA application.

These materials were developed by QSA staff for teachers to use with the data in their NAPLAN class reports. Each item analysis includes a description of what is being tested, references to current state and national curriculum documents, and teaching strategies that support development of the concepts and skills being tested. There are also explanations of possible reasons for students' selections of incorrect options in multiple-choice items and of the most common incorrect responses to spelling and numeracy items.
