SunLANDA

The new Queensland Studies Authority (QSA) data analysis tool, SunLANDA, has been released on the QSA website today.

SunLANDA (LANDA standing for Literacy and Numeracy Data Analysis) is a data tool for schools to analyse student NAPLAN performance. Student data from the 2007 and 2008 tests is available, with data from the 2009 tests to be made available at a later date.

SunLANDA provides teachers with a number of ways to meaningfully interpret student data whilst significantly reducing the time previously spent manually entering and analysing NAPLAN data.

Once school data has been imported into the program, SunLANDA allows teachers to analyse data for customised groups of test items and compare class and student results with other student cohorts. Using this information, teachers will be able to use SunLANDA to inform their teaching practices based on detailed analysis of test items.

SunLANDA focuses on assisting teachers to identify weaknesses in student knowledge to help inform teaching, rather than relying solely on test result scores.

The tool will also link to curriculum documents on the QSA website that analyse the test items and allow teachers to take the next step in developing their teaching strategies from the analysis.

The SunLANDA program, instruction manual and sample data can be downloaded from the QSA website. Principals can access and download their own school's data via the secure QSA site and store the data locally on their own secure systems to import into SunLANDA.
