Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 tests general information
For the first time in 2008, Queensland Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 students will take part in the National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN).
The Curriculum Corporation and the Ministerial Council on Education, Employment, Training and Youth Affairs have information about the National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy.
Although the Curriculum Corporation is managing the national tests, the QSA will coordinate the administration, marking and reporting of the assessments for Queensland.
The program will run over 3 days, in students' own schools from 13-15 May. A series of tests will assess the areas of language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation); writing; reading; and numeracy (including number, measurement, chance and data, space, working mathematically, algebra function and pattern).
Results from the tests will provide important information about children's progress in literacy and numeracy. Following the tests, schools and students will receive a statement of performance in relation to the national benchmarks.
2008 test dates
All schools must ensure that the week beginning 12 May 2008 is set aside for the national tests. Do not schedule other major school activities during this time.
