Senior assessment

Queensland follows a system of externally-moderated school-based assessment. Senior students are taught and assessed by their teachers in accordance with the requirements of Years 11 and 12 syllabuses. The QSA ensures that the curriculum and assessment programs developed by schools are rigorous and meet the requirements of the syllabuses. Teachers' judgments about the standards achieved by their students are moderated by the QSA using trained expert panels of teachers from other schools.

Some senior students are unable to access some subjects at their schools. These students may sit a limited range of external examinations set and marked by the QSA.
