Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE)
Schools will by now have received QCE Provisional Statements, Eligibility Reports and explanatory notes. If there are errors on or omissions from the statements or reports, schools should refer to the explanatory notes in the first instance. If there are still issues to be resolved after doing so, please email the QCE Management Unit: qce@qsa.qld.edu.au
Please note the cut-off date for receipt of transfer applications for students to be eligible for a QCE in December 2008 is Friday 19 September. Applications received by the QSA in Term 4 will be processed in time for the July 2009 issue of the QCE.

- QCAR Framework regional one-day conferences - Rockhampton (10 October), Cairns (31 October) and Sunshine Coast (14 November).

- Developing a P-12 framework - consultations in Mackay, Longreach and Brisbane.
- Introducing the Senior English Syllabus (2008 open implementation trial) - conferences to be held statewide from September.
For your 2009 diary
- QSA Senior Schooling Conference 2009 - Productive pathways, Successful futures at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on 19 and 20 March. Speakers include Helen MacGillivray (QUT), Barry McGaw (National Curriculum Board), Gary Marks (University of Melbourne) and Richard Teese (University of Melbourne).
- Prep to Year 10 - a major conference focusing on teaching and learning at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on 30 April and 1 May. More details about both of these conferences will be available soon.

Next Step survey
Results from the Queensland Government's 2008 Next Step survey will be presented at a series of regional briefings from 8-19 September. The annual survey collects information about the initial study and employment destinations of the previous year's cohort of Year 12 students.
Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) conference
Proceedings from the ACER Research Conference 2008 held in Brisbane on 11 and 12 August are available for download. The conference looked at the skills and dispositions young people need to participate effectively in work and the community, and how educators can nurture these skills and dispositions.
Word Play 2008
Word Play 2008 is the Brisbane Writers Festival program especially for young readers, writers and illustrators. This action packed literary experience is aimed at students in Years 6-12 across Queensland and runs from 17-19 September.
HMB Endeavour 2008 Outreach Program
School groups can visit the HMB Endeavour when it docks in Brisbane at the end of this month. HMB Endeavour is one of the most historically accurate tall ships in the world. Students will see how the officers and crew lived and worked, learn how vessels in the age of sail operated and find out how Captain Cook ran the ship. Crew will be available to answer questions and resource material for teachers is available with a confirmed booking. Visit the Australian National Maritime Museum website for details.
The Education Show
The Education Show showcases the latest education resources, products and services for schools and kindergartens. It also offers a high quality seminar program on education issues. Sponsored by the QSA, the Department of Education, Training and the Arts and Education Review, this premier education event is on at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on 5 and 6 September.
Asia Education Foundation (AEF)
A special edition of the AEF's e-News is available on the AEF website. It features information on Call to Action: Asia literacy for every young Australian and the Asia Scope and Sequence for the Arts professional learning workshop and units of work.
