The open trial version of the Years 1 to 10 English Syllabus is being redeveloped and should be available on the QSA website in 2009. The English Essential Learnings and Standards, which incorporate the National Statements of Learning for English, will form the core of the redeveloped syllabus.
What to do until the new syllabus is available
Teachers should continue to plan and assess English according to guidelines provided by school authorities and schools. The recently published Essential Learnings and Standards are an appropriate reference. Schools that were part of the open trial of the draft Years 1 to 10 English Syllabus should be aware that the strands will be different in the redeveloped English syllabus.
The Year 2 Diagnostic Net is also being revised. It will have continua that build from Prep to the Essential Learnings at the Year 3 juncture.
